Caroline Garcia cruised her way into her maiden singles semi-final at the 2022 US Open after defeating Coco Gauff in the quarter-final clash in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. She defeated lucky Kamilla Rakhimova, Anna Kalinskaya, the 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, and Alison Riske-Amritraj in the first four rounds to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in her career at the US Open and the second time at a Major event.
She had a great start to the hard-court season starting with the title win at the 2022 Cincinnati Open after playing the tournament as a qualifier. She had entered the US Open on a 13-match winning streak. She broke world number one Iga Swiatek‘s 18-match winning streak on the clay court at the Poland Open after defeating her in the quarter-finals and eventually won her ninth WTA title.
Garcia will face Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in the semi-finals of the US Open and will be hoping to make her place in the finals possibly trying at winning her first major singles title. With her continuation of consistent performances, Garcia will make her place in the Top 10 of the WTA rankings.

Garcia began her journey playing under the leadership of her father Louis-Paul Garcia who was the coach of the French player for a very long time until 2021. She had decided to end her partnership with her father after meeting her new coach Gabriel Urpi.
Urpi is a former tennis player from Spain and was the Orange Bowl champion in 1978 as well as the semi-finalist in the boys’ singles at the French Open in 1978. Urpi has a very successful coaching career and had been the coach of Flavia Pennetta for several years, until her retirement. He has also worked as a coach with Elina Svitolina and Nicolas Mahut.
