Patrick Beverley explains his greatness compared to Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Steph Curry, and K

Legendary players like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Stephen Curry will always be the main topic among NBA fans. However, former NBA player Patrick Beverley believes fans and experts should also give flowers to defensive players like himself. As per Beverley, players like him, as well as other defensive specialists, are always unique.

On his self-titled podcast, Patrick Beverley claimed that great players like Jordan, James, Bryant, and Curry ‘come all the time’. On the other hand, he claimed that players like Draymond Green and Marcus Smart are one of a kind and deserve more credit.

Steph Currys, LeBron Jameses, Kobe Bryants, Michael Jordans, those guys come all the time. We might not understand it. Ane we might, 'All those guys are a dime a dozen.' Look up. 'It's the next Derrick Rose. It's the next [Russell] Westbrook.' Only one Draymond Green. Only one Pat Bev. One Dennis Rodman.
Patrick Beverley on the Pat Bev Podcast

He stated that “there’s only one Pat Bev” making a bold statement regarding his greatness in the sport. Beverley last played in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks last season. His stats weren’t that impressive as compared to the living legends of the sport. Hence, his recent take on his podcast will always be debatable regarding the offensive and defensive players in the game.

However, one may agree with Beverley to a certain extent. Many defenders have successfully defended at all three levels of the court. Several have demonstrated their effectiveness with full-court press actions. These forms of players have thrived but have not received much attention throughout league history. Hence, Beverley took out time to appreciate himself and the other defenders in the league.

Patrick Beverley ‘felt disrespected’ by LeBron James during his time at Lakers

Former NBA player, Patrick Beverley has played for 12 long seasons in the league, including the decorated Los Angeles Lakers. There, Beverley got to alongside the likes of NBA legend, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. However, his stay was quite short at Lakers, and he ended up leaving the franchise for the Chicago Bulls in the 2022-23 season.

On his self-titled podcast, Beverley claimed that he felt degraded because no one listened to his comments that could have helped the squad.

Yeah we should do this on defense... 'nah we cool, we cool... nah we gotta rotate'... Bron what you mean we gotta rotate, you ain't even playing... They don't listen to me.... You gotta go through the first year coach, the LeBron, the AD, the Russ, then it get to me.

Many Lakers fans, including some players, failed to take Patrick Beverley seriously due to his on-court antics. However, Beverley is unquestionably an NBA-caliber defender. There’s no doubt that he can make an impact when he stays focused on the game. Recently, Beverley left the NBA to sign with the Israeli side, Tel Aviv.
