Arena Augment Changes in League of Legends

Arena mode is returning with Augment changes to make the game more interesting in patch 13.23.

As you may have already heard, the highly acclaimed game mode, Arena more commonly known as 2v2v2v2, is making its return with a more polished gameplay design in League of Legends. Besides custom and group queues, the new arena is to feature novelty in the cameos, stage gameplay, challenges, and balanced and diverse champion pool among many more changes.

Augment has been a critical part of how Arena matches turn out. In the previous version of Arena, a lot of players, including me, couldn’t play around these permanent buffs to champions. Picking and executing these changes are monumental to turn the tide of a duel in your favor.

As part of the enhanced diversity in gameplay, Riot is planning to refine the augments and how they are used. They are planning to bring a lot of new augments that go well with a wide range of champions. This will make the mode fun while not limiting the viable champion pool to a narrow set.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at the aument changes in the new edition of Arena!

Arena Augment Changes

There are quite a few changes Riot has packaged for the new Arena mode, as Riot Max3ll describes in his dev blog.

  • Addition of 60 New Augments, including a new set of three giving you Ability Haste on either your Q, W, or E
  • Limiting the number of each Augment: There used to be unlimited copies of the same Augments in the v1 of Arena. This resulted in the repetition of the same group of Augments in every round. To increase diversity, they are gonna limit it to 2 copies. So, you will see new and new Augments in the next rounds.
  • Modified icons: To help get the intuition behind the functionalities of the Augments, Riot is going to refine how the Augment icons look. Moreover, they are going to categorize them into small groups so you can easily understand which category serves which purpose.

These are some really well-thought-out changes and just go to show how much Riot has learned from v1 of Arena. Riot is pretty serious about cementing Arena as a permanent and popular game mode of League of Legends. And their dedication to continuously improve based on player feedback and their own creativity is praiseworthy. It’s going to be a fun ride playing the v2 of Arena this time.
